The SL104k-1k sorter is based on Basler's highly responsive L100k line scan series. The camera's new smart "sorter" feature reduces the image information to 16 bits per line. Each bit represents a segment of the sensor and indicates to an attached imaging device that a defect has been found. Using two variable thresholds, the sorter can identify defects within a target gray level range. When the thresholds are combined with a parameter specifying a minimum number of adjacent pixels, the sorter can identify defects by size as well.
A major advantage of the sorter camera is that after initial setup, it can be used without a frame grabber or a PC. The output of the camera can be interfaced directly into your system and used to control a sorting or sizing operation. In multiple camera systems, this ability represents a significant cost reduction.
You can use the sorter camera in many line scan applications where defects can be recognized by gray level or size. Typical applications include grind inspection, food inspection and parts inspection.

The SL104k-1k sorter camera provides a choice of different integration modes as well as adjustable gain and offset. It can be triggered via an external sync signal or run in an internally controlled "free-run" mode. All settings can be made by means of simple programming commands via a serial port. The camera operates with a single voltage power supply and has simple cabling requirements.
